Due to recent changes I have now been required to complete 4 of the VR tasks instead of 4, this is because we have removed the need create two AR tasks. I have decided create a small but immersive virtual space in which the user can teleport around and pickup various objects, Movement customisation settings that allow a user to change how they move (e.g., teleport), A 3D user interface main menu in which the user can manually adjust their camera-height and select ‘play’ and ‘exit’ using some form of naturalistic interaction. As well as a natural open/closing mechanism. This could be a door, window, drawer, etc. From this point I have now completed the first two tasks. For me these became much more confusing that I would have expected, i came across massive difficulty in creating a locomotion system so the user could choose between that and a teleport function. I have done much research on how i can optimally use a locomotion system and this article How To Add Smooth Locomotion To Unreal Engine 5.1 VR Template — GDXR helped incredible. I was very lost on this and couldn't wrap my head around it but this post made it much easier for me understand. I also had some other issues due to the height and floor etc. I came across a point where my character was floating in the air, this took hours to fix as for some reason this wasn't an easy fix, however i did fix it in the end by lowering the camera to the capsule. The teleport system and grabbing features were not too hard to do however changing between teleporting and walking were very difficult.
